TEATRO AVANTE’S VENUE GOES PUBLIC
nota de prensa

Due to the lack of theatre venues in Miami, and to the closing of the Absinthe House Cinematheque, on April 30 of this year - the organization that shared space with Teatro Avante since 1998 – we are now in a position to be able to rent our 186-seat theatre to other organizations which are looking for a well-equipped space to present their productions.

Located in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables, at 235 Alcazar Avenue, between Salzedo and Ponce de Leon Blvd. (four blocks north of Miracle Mile,) Teatro Avante, a non-profit cultural organization, is also the producer of the award-winning International Hispanic Theatre Festival, which concluded its 18th edition on June 22. This venue includes convenient parking on the street and in the corner of Alcazar and Salzedo (Lot #6,) where public transportation is also available.

“We would like to make our space available once again to theatre groups or other cultural organizations which do not have a space to present their works. We know that this is a great need that to this date the Greater Miami Area has not been able to meet,” Mario Ernesto Sánchez, Avante’s Producing Artistic Director said… “We are going to welcome all serious cultural projects and help them as much as we can to achieve success through their presentations.”

Dates will be available beginning August 1, when groups wanting to rent on a monthly basis will enjoy priority status. “We know that most theatre productions would want to offer at least a three-week run (or twelve performances). The first week only we will allow the groups to arrive beginning on Monday, to set-up and be able to have enough technical rehearsals before opening on Friday. Thus, the monthly rental would provide a length of time essential to achieve a fine level of artistic quality,” Sánchez said.

Non-Spanish speaking groups and productions are also encouraged to take advantage of this very unique opportunity. The theatre enjoys a choice location where a multi-lingual audience resides. Additionally, Coral Gables includes a variety of attractions, such as other professional theatres and excellent restaurants for visitors and tourists.

The theatre will also be available for other uses, such as film festivals, concerts and weekend performances, as well as workshops and corporate meetings during the day. Rental costs will be charged according to the choice of dates and the number of days/weeks of usage. Other contractual services will also be available, such as: design work (set, costume, lighting, music, props), lighting and sound operation, set-up charges, ticket printing, translations and super titles, among others.

It is highly recommended that you reserve your dates early by calling 305. 445-8877
