"FIFTY FIFTY" Teatro en Miami Studio's upcoming world premiere.
Fifty Fifty will be presented in Spanish with English SuperTitles
Following the successful premiere of "Ode to Torture" and "TEMFest,"Teatro en Miami Festival's first local Hispanic Theatre Festival; Teatro en Miami Studio (TEMS) returns to the local theatre scene with "Fifty Fifty," an original urban comedy, by playwright and director, Ernesto Garcia.
Garcia, one of Miami's most prolific writers, has brought us outstanding plays such as El Reloj Dodecafonico, Enema, El Celador del Desierto, Al Horizonte no se llega en una Barca de Papel, among others. He now brings us what he describes as an "urban comedy, a play of today and for today." ”A play of the urban man, with his frustrations, struggles and passions as he faces life within the sterile confine of our urban landscape."
Premiere: Friday, March 25, 2011.
Runs: Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 P.M.
The play as with other TEMS' productions will feature multi-media, complete use of space and original lighting design and musical score.
Felicia, the main character, arrives at a bus stop on the saddest day of her life. A strange woman approaches her and invites her to admire the lake view, then hands her an envelope and tells her: "Do not open it until its time" disappearing immediately from view. From that point on Felicia embarks on a unique experience. For months on end she will meet every person that approaches the bus stop: an actress, a thief, a beauty parlor technician, and a very successful businessman. Her acid and unsympathetic view of the world will make us laugh and reflect on important subjects such as: the true meaning of lies and the burdens brought by fashion, by violence, by wealth, and by happiness, among others.
It features Sandra Garcia, principal actress and prestigious acting professor who has participated in over dozens of plays in Miami and other cities. The supporting cast includes: Anniamary Martinez and Carlos Bueno, both actors that have been taught under TEMS' rigorous theatre concept and who have participated in important TEMS productions such as El Celador del Desierto and El Reloj Dodecafonico. It will also mark the debut in Miami of Simone Balmaseda, an actress that participated in TEMS' theatre workshops, and Osvaldo Strongoli, actor and director of theatre productions, such as El Acompañamiento.
